The following is a breakdown which gives you an idea where employment opportunities are now…

For the most part, government looks like it will attract the most workers over the next decade. But, with budget cuts in almost every state, that may not fully pan out.

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics provided a graphic which shows the industries with the best prospects for job seekers have high salaries, many positions, and low employment rates. Below, I’ve condensed the graphic featured in the article:

-Government jobs available in the U.S. 22.6 million, 3.9% unemployment rate, average salary $53K.

-Health Services jobs available in the U.S. 16.7 million, 5.7% unemployment rate, average salary $47K.

-Professional and Business Services jobs available in the U.S. 17.2 million, 9.8% unemployment rate, average salary $54K.

-Retail jobs available in the U.S. 14.5 million, 9.9% unemployment, average salary $29K.

-Manufacturing jobs available in the U.S. 11.7 million, 9.6% unemployment rate, average salary $46K.

If you’ve been out of work a year, or more, time to see how you can transfer skill-sets from another industry to fit into the sectors where there are more opportunities, and lower unemployment rates.
